Title: Tape Backup Drive Advice and Desktop Backup
Post by: ccupani on September 02, 2007, 02:20:53 AM
Can anyone give me a recommendation on a resonable known Tape Backup Drive that will work on SME server 7.0?

Also I have been backing up to my desktop for two days now and it is still hanging up on 3.99gb.  After a while it just cancels itself and there is no backup file.  This is the first time I have had trouble with this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Carmine

I've found about any of the HP or exabyte DDS tape drives work fine on my SME7.

What machine and media are you backing up to? If you're backing up to a FAT32 volume on a Windows machine you may be experiencing the 4Gb file size limit. I had a similar problem backing up to DVD-RAM media as these were FAT32 formatted, a reformat to UDF allowed me to exceed the 4Gb file size limit.

As mentioned I've not had any problems with any of the HP SureStore DAT drives I have around here and even my two DEC DLT drives (a 15/30 and a 35/70) are picked up fine.

Jason.
