Dear Group
I'd like to set up some aliases in qmail.
I have checked the Manager - seems not an option
In the Redhat mail server, "sendmail", seems just a need to edit the aliases file in /etc/mail; but not there in e-smith. Have used "find" command to look for file aliases, but get message about "/proc/f2 protected".
Any suggestions as to how I can set up aliases??
Thanks.

Hello David,

In e-smith 4.0 beta (4.0b3 is available for download and 4.0b4 will be released today or tomorrow) you can get this effect by creating a user account with the desired name and then forwarding their mail to another email account. To create an alias for a list of users, just create a group. All this can be done via the e-smith manager.
So for example, if you want the effect of this /etc/aliases file:
freddy: alfred
carol: cjones@othercompany.com
sales: alfred, bernard, carol
Then in e-smith you would:
1. Create the accounts alfred, bernard and carol
2. Enter a forwarding address for carol to "cjones@othercompany.com"
3. Create the account "freddy" and forward it to "alfred"
4. Create the group "sales" with the appropriate users
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
- Joe
