Folks -
I'm sorry if this is in the forum somewhere - I looked but could not find it.
I am in need of being able to password protect an ibay using system user names and passwords. I want it not to prompt for a user on the local networks, but to challenge people accessing the ibay from the internet.
While I am thinking about it, I think that this would be a nice option from the ibays menu on the server-manager page.
Thanks!

There is already the option in server manager to password protect the ibay for web access, but that uses a single ibay/password login combination specific to the ibay.
If you want to auth against user names, see this howto.
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/contribs/rmitchell/smeserver/howto/htaccess%20configuration%20with%20custom%20templates%20HOWTO%20for%20sme%20server.htm
As it is shown, you would create a seperate user & password file.
You can change the AuthType to auth against sme users.
Read the links suggested & search the forums for other examples too.
