unless i missed something.
i just installed sme 7.2, a new install.
i am still new to linux and i guess a alot of people are too.
but i am sure the sme server software distrobution has increased.
i would be really nice to have a short listing of how to install most addons.
i am scrambling around looking for addons that i had done under sme server 7.1
things change, i am soo new to this, i cannot even describe what has changed, but there are changes.
here is a page that is similiar
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=35530.0
i believe this page goes overboard and is confusing to a person such as myself.
the whole page is not confussing, mostly the bottom is.
what is needed is for every version of sme server (7.0, 7.1, 7.2) there is a single page devoted for it.
what will this do,
well when addons are provided inside the new release, those addons can be removed from the devoted page.
and the same goes for new addons.
it would be easy for an acknowledgable sme person to do this.
all that is needed is a copy and paste then some removal and some additons.
add a discussion area for the devoted pages and do not let not people add comments to the devoted pages unless they are qualified.
i would make it much easier for the newbie and that is what is needed, more users of sme sever.
buy doing this, there can be one place where all the pages are edited, and read.
if you do not know what would be be must addons. do a survey over time, make a web site and do the survey there, matter of fact, place the devoted pages there.
if this would be done and kept up todate , i would offer my help in anyway possible.
but i do not make strategy of sme server.
this would also save time.
i believe people also move to sme server as i did for the fact it is less complicated, dependable, and fast to install and manage, with flexiblity, this is what i believe most people want.
i would ok to have the individual document located separately, but there should be a one place catch all, there can be link under each item.

We have these pages which are coming along great with the hard work people are putting in...
Main source

Contribs

And so on.

that works ok but it is only ok
there needs to be a one location to goto for each version.
i am not advocating that the information should be an all or nothing, just the main addons.
i also wish if they are going to come out with sme 8.0 they would not work on anything but sme 7.?
there is no need to cause our servers to not run because of an small incremental updates.
lets just fix what is broke.
i mean the version of centos 4 is not changing is it?

I disagree in that you need one set of documentation for each separate dot release. The current version is 7.2 and if you have a look at most of the contribs in byte's post they state xxx for SME 7.x.
From my understanding there would be no major architectural changes between iterations of version 7, thus mostthings should work between versions.
Also you should be using the most up to date version as this provides many security and stability fixes that corrected in subsequent releases.
