Title: 4.0b3 Local network bug
Post by: Glenn Kennedy on February 29, 2000, 10:55:31 PM
My e-smith server is set to server only - dedicated, on an institutional network. I have designated a remote cable modem as a local network, but can't log in via ftp from a win machine behind the cable modem. I can, however, access the manager from the remote machine, and can switch ftp access to public for a short while, which allows me the remote ftp access that i need. I assume that the local network setup is "half working", in that the manager is accessible but the ftp access is not. (In all cases I'm logging in as admin).

Is there a known fix to this non-critical problem? Have other users experienced this?

The newest beta release, e-smith 4.0b4 has downgraded the ProFTPd server back to version 1.2.0pre3-6 due to several problems with the newer version of ProFTPd shipped with e-smith 4.0b3.

Give e-smith 4.0b4 a try (or you can just downgrade the FTP server manually) and see if that helps.

Good luck!
