My in-house server is an Acer Altos G520. Currently the hardware error led is on and I'm getting errors on the Raid. I need to read the BOIS error log. Most of the software on the supplied disk is for M$ so not a lot of use. :-(
Is anyone else using this platform?
On the Management CD there are various Linux agents. For Altos G520, Red Hat 9.0 and enterprise AS 3 are supported.
I am not a Linux expert. Can anyone give me some pointers to what I can do with these?
TIA,
Tony

Hopefully this gets things started
1) I'm guessing that you are getting emails with an error message, what do they say?
2) http://csd.acer.com.tw/acer/URMUL1.NSF/1af87a750eeeb70f0825628f006e0bfc/dd5db5fd7870178f48256ef30033f4fc?OpenDocument
3) I saw in the manual (above) an explanation of led light colours/error states.
4) I assume that you mean bios errors, I saw in the manual how to turn the logging feature on, but not where located/stored or how to access.

This is an automatically generated mail message from mdadm
running on rusty
A DegradedArray event had been detected on md device /dev/md1.
Faithfully yours, etc.
I am using the Acer hardware array rather than the SME facility.

I have a similar document and found the explanation but it was of no real help.

I do mean the BIOS hardware log. The Acer management disk includes a directory of Linux agents but I'm lost about how to make them work with SME server.
Thanks

Tony;
I recently had a problem with both disk messed up following inadvertent power outage. I followed the following posting to salvation.

If you post your error message there will be a number of similar posts that help people out and do not involve installing or using other software.
Unfortunately for both of us I am out of my depth with any discussion of hardware raids (and many other topics I've been told) and I don't know if the software supplied by the computer mfg will help diagnose if you have a hardware problem and what it might be. There is a note in the wiki mentioned above about turning off the hardware raid and using the software raid. If you can do this it might point out if the problem is a disk ( you still have problems) or the raid hardware.
I hope that this is helpful
