Title: I don't get authorized for server-manager
Post by: coolburne on September 18, 2007, 12:29:11 PM
Hi all

I'm new to SME server and would like to test all possibilities with this server.
I have made a new install and updated to the latest packages.
Then I wanted to configure SMEserver through a webbrowser on another PC.
I go to the ipaddress of the server followed by /server-manager which gives me a loginscreen.
I enter root and the password but it gives me following error: "Invalid username or password".
(I made no mistake in typing...)
Is this normal? Shouldn't I always be able to login with the root account?
Or do I need to setup something on the server itself to gain access through my browser?
I haven't found any other info on this matter, not in the forum nor in the manual...
Can anyone give me some info on this? Thanks in advance.

We use admin as username  in server-manager and root at command level, also su admin would take you in to a console. Have a look at the manual as well as it explains in more detail...

Ok, my mistake...
Changed the password for admin and got in.
Thanks for the quick help! (guess I didn't go through the manual properly :s)
