Title: outlook 2007 smtp authentication settings don't work locally
Post by: jahlewis on September 20, 2007, 04:23:20 AM
I use outlook 2007 for email.  When external to my SME 7.2 system, the smtp authentication settings work fine.  however, when I am on the local network, I need to disable the Outlook SMTP requires authentication feature to get my messages to send.  This happens whether I have proxypass enabled and disabled for email.

Is there some particular way to get this to work so i don't always have to change settings depending on when I'm home or not?

FWIW, outlook says this:  None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.

Does Outlook 2007 work from the internal network if you enable smtp authentication internally as outlined here?
