Not in e-smith 3.0, although it wouldn't be too hard to modify
the configuration to set it up that way.
In e-smith 4.0, which is now in beta test, it is possible to schedule
the ppp dialer to never dial. You can then use the diald-control utility
to bring the link up and down. It wouldn't be difficult to create web pages to run the diald-control program when you want to raise and lower the link.
See http://www.e-smith.org/custom/ for instructions on customising the server.

Hi there
How do I configure the PPP dialer. I went to the
Configuration screen and changed the operation mode to
server and gateway - dialup and entered my information
but it doesn't connect to worldnet..
Any thoughts?? Also how do (or do we have to) we
set up the modem specifically??

What is the timeout setting for the ppp dialup? Is there a way to increase that time that it is connected before it disconnects, or turn it off? Where is that setting if there is one? Does checking e-mail keep the connection alive?
