Title: Firewall development project moved.
Post by: arne on October 20, 2007, 03:51:51 PM
It is in the nature of open source that what be gold for some, will be garbage to other.

The problem of doing any kind of firewalling on the SME server, combining 2,3 of 4 network adapters is not any issue at all any more. It has basically been solved trough discussions here on this forum during the latest days.

On the other hand it is quite understandable that SME developers that do their best to make an overall secure product don't like to have ongoing discussion in their forum how to breake all the security there is. On the other hand it was not my intention to supply with "negative propaganda". It was only the intention to find "the answer", how to do things.

To make manual configurations of the firewall is without question dangerous and involved with a high degree of risk. On the oher hand it also gives a lot of freedom and new opertunities, including also the opurtunity to increase security to a level above standars setteing.

Playground for testing out new firewall options is now moved to a new web site:  http://www.inetsecurity.org/forum/index.php

This project will hopefully not be discussed at the contribs.org forum any more, and I ask for excuse for the inconvenience.
