Hi

I would like to know if SME server can be used to implement the following:

When you stay in hotels or are in an airport and access the wifi, they require you to log in to their system before you can start using the internet. If they don't login, they are always shown a login page  when the internet explorer or any other browser is opened. Basically they track your usage statistics.


Can this be done using SME server?

You are looking for so called "captive portal".
You may take a look at m0n0wall project (http://m0n0.ch/wall/) firewall only distro. It comes with one and WiFi support.
