Title: external access to files, thru SM7
Post by: edeganay on October 29, 2007, 05:30:56 PM
Hello there,
I have a SBS2000 server onsite, working for years now.
I'd like to :
- Filter spam and virus from emails
- securely access to files on the sbs shares

For the first aim, I thought install a small SME7.2 between internet and the SBS, and activate the forwarding emails.
but how achieve a secure access WITHOUT the PPTP access, because it has to be done from anywhere ? (https forward ?)

let me know if I'm clear enough ?

Edd

If you already have 'secure' web access to somewhere on your SBS you can port-forward some ports to it, or you can use 'proxy pass' to get to it.

I have a couple internal folders that I have 'mounted' using mount -t cifs... to directories inside existing ibays - but I don't know that I'd call the security 'Enterprise Class'...
