Title: dlink rtl8139
Post by: derek on March 30, 2002, 09:17:14 AM
having no luck with establishing internet connection.
I have two pci network adapter cards and will connect one to the cable
modem and the other to a hub. The ethernet adapters in the server are internal -
dlink 538 tx, sme did not find the cards installed so i picked rtl8139 and tried to run the test and failed for connection. I currently have the @home.or @shaw.ca modem connected to my hub and from there to 2 machines, i took a third line to the sme box to try it out but like i say got nothing.
Also does anyone know if you can have 2 outgoing nic cards and one incoming in sme
thanks

Use the 8139too module instead.

Serge.

if that doesn't work, the D-Link card may not be from a compatible chipset. what's worse, D-Link will sometimes change chipsets without changing model names - you'll find some post on the internet about people having success with 'your' card, but in fact they've got a different revision of the card. I tried to configure using D-Link cards; I eventually went out & picked up some cheap A-Open Realtek-based NICs for $15 CA a piece.
