Hello everyone
I have been using ASSP on SME for some years now and need to clarify a few points please.
I see that in the forums and indeed in other places that installing GCC is a big no-no.
My first question is how do I install the various Perl modules that do not have RPM's on SME without GCC and not using the Perl CPAN cli?
Some of the modules needed is as follow:
Digest::MD5
Net::LDAP
Tie::RDBM
Net::DNS
Mail::SPF::Query
Mail::SRS
Email::Valid
File::ReadBackwards
Time::HiRes
LWP::Simple
Compress::Zlib
Sys::Syslog
Any comments on this would be very much appreciated.

Moving this topic to the SME Server 7.x contribs forum, it is more appropriate there. Thanks!

Find suitable RPM's in the CentOS repositories or in the dag or atrpms repository, generally RHEL4 RPM's should be suitable for SME Server 7.
If they are not in a repository you might be able to find them using http://rpm.pbone.net
If you can not find the RPM you can download the module to a development machine (preferably CentOS 4.5) and build the packages there.

Hi
What to do in the cases where a development machine is not available or more relevant the knowledge to transfer this package once built to the production server is not available.
(I am merely trying to engage conversation regarding this subject as I am sure there are other areas with similar challenges that can make use of this information. If I should not continue with this then please do let me know. I know for 1 I have reaped some very helpful information from this and other Open source forums that have made my life a lot simpler and although I do not have all the answers I know there are other people that knows.)
