Title: proxy
Post by: sander on April 01, 2002, 04:40:51 PM
How long does the proxy server keep content in cache?
can i shorten the time it ceeps pages on the cache or clear the cache entirely manually?

In 5.0 it didn't hold so much data. In 5.1.2 when i renew the web page on an external server, hitting refresh button does not display the new content.

I have not specified proxy server for mu browser.

Can proxy be disabled?
I have quite a slow server, but the internet connection is normal. so in my case it is better to turn off proxy. How?

# /sbin/e-smith/db configuration setprop squid Transparent no
# /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
# /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/rc.d/init.d/masq
# /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/squid/squid.conf
# service masq restart

And if you would like later to start the proxy again..
Simply write yes insted of no in the first line..
