Hi,
I've inherited a SME Server (7.1). I'd like to offload DHCP and Routing to a wireless router in my clients office and convert the server from a gateway to server only. I can use some sage advice. Thanks.

Bret,
login as admin from the console , Configure and turn DHCP to off from there

The really short version: Logon to the console as admin, select 'configure this server' there you can turn of DHCP and set the server in 'server-only' mode. But i suggest to read the manual (see the link in the menu on top) and maybe additional information in the wiki.
regards.

Okay, so according to thomasch and jester this is a trivial operation. Great!...but what if I also want to reclaim the servers local IP Address which is currently the router address for every device on the network. This would, of course, necessitate changing the servers current IP Address. Also trivial?

From the servers standpoint, yes. It is in the same configuration sequence as changing gateway to server only, and turning off dhcp.

Wow, this sounds really easy. By the way read the docs and wiki already, this particular scenario not addressed. Thought it would be a little more complex. Thanks for your input 8)
