I see two packaged groupware tools available for SME (thanks!). What are the differences? Pro's, Con's between them? Groupoffice looks more intuitive, but egroupware has more features out of the box, but is more cumbersome for novices...
Are you all using the syncml with Outlook/Thunderbird/Entourage/Mac mail-ical ?
If I went with groupoffice, then decided to purchase to the pro version, would I be able to upgrade and keep the SME customization?
Thanks.

Hi,
You've just answered your question by your-self actually:Groupoffice looks more intuitive, but egroupware has more features out of the box, but is more cumbersome for novices...
This is exactly what I would have said!
Before purchasing the pro version, try eGroupWare's SyncML (with php5-cgi). Funambol looks to work fine on some devices. Some later fixes may enhance eGroupWare compatibility.
Syncing eGroupWare and Outlook is not a problem, it works out of the box with eGroupWare if you install eGWOSync. Don't have any Mac and I'm using Outlook only...
I don't know what the pro version is (new package, update package, a register function?). So can't tell you - Sorry!

The pro version has the following that the opensource does not:
Template system
Newsletters and Address lists module
Custom fields for addressbook and projects
Pocket PC Synchronization
Outlook Synchronization
Nokia Synchronization
Symbian based phone synchronization
Palm Synchronization
Group-Office Transfer Agent (Saves documents directly to GO)
Helpdesk module
So it looks like you need the pro version to get syncing to work with groupoffice, and I like the looks of the helpdesk module...

Additional modules may require more tweak...
Do you have a list of pre-requisite for these additional modules?
