I am using theevansfamily.local as my main domain. I also have a virtual domain called theevansfamily.com. I have a couple of Ibays that are supposed to be accessible from the web. However, they do not seem to be resolving correctly. For instance:
I have a an Ibay called photos. I can access it locally via http://theevansfamily.local/photos (http://theevansfamily.local/photos) but I can not access it or any other Ibays locally or remotely using http:theevansfamily.com/photos (http://http:theevansfamily.com/photos). I get a HTTP 404 error "Webpage not found". I do however, see the the primary web page (which is still the default Site Under Construction" page") both locally and remotely when browsing to http://theevansfamily.com.
The virtual domain setup looks like this:
Domain name | Brief description | Content | Domain DNS servers |
theevansfamily.com | Main internet domain | Primary | Resolve locally |
theevansfamily.local | Primary domain | Primary | Resolve locally |
I would like to be able to access the different ibays via http://theevansfamily.com/ibay. is this possible? Or can a virtual domain only point to the Content setting?
Thanks for your help. BTW, I did log this in to the bug tracker..but I am not sure if anyone has given it much of a look. The bug entry is here: http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3579 (http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3579)
Thanks for your help.

You don't need the two domains, just configure the main domain on sme to be
theevansfamily.com
in the admin console, Configure this server
Then
http://theevansfamily.com/photos
and
http://theevansfamily.com/ibay
will be accessible externally and internally

Ray,
I made the changes as you suggested. Everything is working great now. The domain.local and domain.com thing was a carry over from a MS Best Practices article I once read (insert flame here).
Can I close the bug out? Or does an admin need to do that?

Thanks again.

Add the resolution method to the bug, and advise that it's working OK for you so devs don't need to do anything.

Done...bug is marked invalid with a link back to this thread.
