I try to install SME 7.2 on a Gigabyte P35-DS4 motherboard and 3ware 9650-4LP raid controller. The first problem is that cdrom is not recognised after I provide 3ware card driver. After several hours googling i found that ICH9 southbridge is not supported by kernel older that 2.6.19 In this case to install SME 7.2 (2.6.9 kernel) seems to be impossible. Did someone find a solution to this issue? Any help is welcomed
Thanx

Correct. I'd suggest that you try the 7.3beta - http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=39499.msg180936

I'll not give up. I found in the attic a Pci Promise IDE controller which is recognized immediately and the instalation of 7.2 begun. Now is in formatting raid array and this takes a lot of time (we are speakink about 4x750GB HDD). I'll post the results and if is possible I'd like to be asisted in compiling a nnewer kernel (2.6.18 or newer).
