I am having trouble with Fetchmail. I have searched the forum and the fetchmail site and cannot get it resolved and would appreciate some help. I installed fetchmail and everything seemed OK. I set up a rule to retrieve the email firstuserlastname@sympatico.ca and forward it to firstuser@mydomain.ca.
Problem 1) It seems to work ok except that I get the same email twice.
Problem 2) I added identical rules for seconduser, thirduser, and fourthuser but the emails are still sitting at the isp's server, not retrieved
Problem 3) I started poking around in the server-manager email setting, changing the email reception values from etrn/multidrop and smtp. I received an email that states
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 21971.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 21971.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 21971.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 21971.
Edit: Problem 3 I solved with http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=2018.0, but still not 1 and 2. Any help would be appreciated. Thx in advance.

I had the same issue, it seems to be because you entered a forward address that is the same as the address on your local server. Fetchmail for smeserver assumes automatically that it should deliver mail to the e-mailaddress that is configured for the account you setup fetchmail for. If not configured it will use the default address created for the account when the user was created. The forwarding address is only for forwarding to another e-mailaddress not assigned to that user.
To go short remove the forward address from the configuration and all should be fine.

sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I changed to isp with fixed address and open pots for email and do not use fetchmail any longer.
