Title: Compaq 4000N
Post by: Jon Tomlins on April 07, 2002, 02:00:31 AM
Can anybody help me on this one,

Got a Compaq 4000N, onboard netintelligent 10/100 network card, and a intel etherexpress 10/100 card.

I have tried to install e-smith on the system but each time I only get to the screen informing me that settings are being saved, the screen then goes black except a white underscore cursor in the top left corner, i left it in this state for 10 minutes and nothing happened.

hope someones got the soloution to this one.

Is a compaq 4000N a server? This does sound dumb. Do you have the compaq server CD's to reconfigure the bios?

Hi Andy,

The Compaq 4000N is a Workstation designed for home use.

Solved Problem now anyway, moved the hard drive over from the old e-smith machine and reconfigured the network card drivers, it's working fine now.

onward to the next project!
