I have been attempting to setup an HP 890c Deskjet on LPT 1. I am using the latest beta. Everything appears to be proper. However when I attempt to print a test page the error message that appears indicates the printer is not connected. I have tried the bios settings at 378 irq 7 normal and at ppc dma 3. No luck. Has anyone out there sucessfully setup a HP Deskjet printer. Oh, The workstation is running Windows 2000 Professional. TIA.

You don't mention exactly which beta you used. There was a printing fix in 4.0b4 I think.
Have a look in /var/log/messages and see what printing related
log messages you can find. See what happens if you log in and run the command "lpr /home/e-smith/configuration" (I think HP Deskjets can handle plain text...)
By default the e-smith server does not use interrupts for printing (but does a good job anyway). I don't know anything about "ppc dma3" - I assume that you have used old-fashioned settings for these?
