Is there a way I can remotely (from one of my Win98 boxes on my own internal network) disconnect the internet connection so the server will reconnect? Using a USR 56k external with my e-smith gateway server and it connects very slowly once in a while. The server is in the garage 200 feet away and I'd like to be able to disconnect it manually from the house from a Win 98 box so it will reconnect possibly faster...
Is there an easy way to do this, other than rebooting the server from the server manager?
thanks!

There is a dial-up add on for the management panel.
I think this is it:
http://www.e-smith.org/contrib/rpm-index/RPM-e-smith-dialin-0.1-2.src.html
From there you can reset the modem.

you don't want the dialin rpm
and a curse on the rpm-index which is 18months out of date
one method is

otherwise
ssh in and run ...?something in /etc/ppp ?

Hi sorry to bother you, but I have problem with my USR 56K model and seeing that you are using the same i was wondering if I can get any help.
The story is:
I have SME server 5. External modem USRobotics vEverything, 56k, V90.
Basically the modem will not dial up the ISP nimber, but every few minutes will start sending the hi-pitched signals without been on line at all.
I tried to set the at string screen to ATW (to wait for dialing tone) or to put W after the number - no luck.
Any ideas?
Sory I forgot to mention that i am quite novice to Linux and SME server, so please be aware.
Regards,
Roumen
