Title: Mainboard for sme 7.3

Hi,
I try to run a sme 7.3-server but i have the Problem that alle Mainboards don't allow torun die attached disk in DMA-Mode.

Can anybody recommend an actual Mainboard that runs without any problems with the 7.3-release?

Thank you - aber there you can find NOTHING about actual mainboards

somtetimes i think that nobody reads such websides before he says: look there ...

If someone says help me
they may get a link

If they say I followed the advice in the manual or FAQ and didn't find an answer
they get a better answer

sorry but i didn't understand.

if somebody gives me an answer ich generally hope that he has read the FAQs, Howtows and Links which he gave me as a hint.

mainboard? chipset?

if you don't give any information (i.e. you make a vague question) you can't expect too much..

I will be installing and testing sme 7.3 on Intel, Gigabyte, MSI and Biostar motherboards with Intel Quad Core and Core 2 Duo Cpu's over the next few weeks. This is a process that I go through before I install and recommend a new version of any OS to my customers. I would be happy to post my results. I will post the configuration, (motherboard, cpu, memory and hard drives) that I used in my tests. This information will be posted at http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Hardware_Compatibility_List. Most of my customers are small businesses and really do not need "server" motherboards so the boards tested will be standard motherboards used in personal computers.

Sal,
thanks for doing this. I know it will be handy for me too as I need to do this in the near future. From what I've read most of the issues in general end up being around Mainboards with chipsets not well support into Linux. JMicron for example has been an issue in the past and they are often used at the moment for extended SATA and PATA support.
