I want to get an adsl from my isp (I currently have an ISDN link), my isp tells me that their ADSL works with windows, it uses pppoe, and to authenticate the users, they use VPN, is this normal?? can e-smith do this? is this pppoe all about?? so, if e-smith support pppoe, does this mean I can share the Internet with my ISP??
Thanks!!

The online manual should answer at some of your questions.
PPPOE config can be found at http://www.e-smith.org/docs/manual/5.1/configexternal.html .

I use ADSL with PPPOE and I have no problems connecting with e-smith 5.1.2.
Now the VPN part I don't know about. My isp does not use VPN.
Thanks,
Eh.

Of course you can.!

Initially - I had to setup my account with a windoze box.
I used Win98SE to load their software and complete my "installation".
Following that - I loaded up the username/password into SME
and moved the ethernet cable ... and typed adsl-start
