Direct from samba.org
(6th February 2002) Samba 2.2.3a released
The Samba Team has released Samba 2.2.3a, a bugfix release for Samba 2.2.3.
This is the latest stable release of Samba. This is the version that all production Samba servers should be running for all current bug-fixes.
This release contains an important bugfix for Windows Explorer users over the Samba 2.2.3 release, and also includes all the scaling bug fixes from 2.2.3 for large server systems so an upgrade is recommended.

I posted a query here before re Race conditions in linux & sme, see
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=3757.msg12898#msg12898
I have not been able to resolve this matter at all (except to use a Win2000Pro as a server)
Would you know if the new update of samba would be addressing any of those type of issues.
Thanks
