Title: sme upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1
Post by: cvlcc on January 22, 2008, 04:43:21 PM
I did a upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1 and I now have a problem? When load direct from the server it only gets to grub> it tells me to complete of device/filename
It is in server mode only before I did the upgrade. I'm downloading 7.3 Now. I'm also Running Raid 0 mirrored that is control ed by a IDE raid Card. What is the difference I386 and I586?
I have mounted it @ /mnt/sysimage
But I don't know how to put the device/filename @ the prompt grub>

Can I get some help? Please
Thank You All

The file grub.conf is complete:below
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE:  You have a /boot partition.  This means that
#          all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
#          root (hd0,0)
#          kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/main/root
#          initrd /initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title SME Server (2.6.9-34.ELsmp)
   root (hd0,0)
   kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-34.ELsmp ro root=/dev/main/root
   initrd /initrd-2.6.9-34.ELsmp.img
title SME Server-up (2.6.9-34.EL)
   root (hd0,0)
   kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-34.EL ro root=/dev/main/root
   initrd /initrd-2.6.9-34.EL.img

At the command line grub> what should I type?
I think that the file just before this file is the problem?

I did an upgrade to 7.3 and I still have the same trouble, I still get stalled @ Grub> ? At the command prompt typed wget http://61.8.0.17/linux/smeserver/releases/7/smeos/i386/SME/RPMS/kernel-2.6.9-67.0.1.EL.i686.rpm
I connect to http://61.8.0.17/
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 not found
19:53:36 ERROR 404: Not Found
So where is the program

I have looked @ the hard drives and all the information stored on them is intact still I still need to get the SME 7.3 server to run? What I need is a line to line info to get the server running? Can Any One Help Please!!

I have tried to follow the forum @ http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=36123.msg159556#msg159556 and http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=39763.0

That command runs OK for me ie
wget http://61.8.0.17/linux/smeserver/releases/7/smeos/i386/SME/RPMS/kernel-2.6.9-67.0.1.EL.i686.rpm

You can find where the files are located by browsing to here:
http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Download

Here is an alternative URL to use in the wget command
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/smeserver/releases/7/smeos/i386/SME/RPMS/

Keep following the advice from william_syd, you are nearly there.

I Rebooted the server and it started to boot right until It stoped @
syntex error on line 113 of the /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod ssl.so into server; /etc/httpd/modl.so; cannot open shared object file no such file or directory
I tried to cd /etc/httpd and got no such file or directory.

I assume that you fixed the grub issue.

At a guess you have some incompatible custom templates or an incompatible contrib installed that has installed a incompatible template.
Boot up in rescue mode single, and try to fix ie delete errant custom templates & then expand the template & reboot, and/or uninstall the incompatible contrib, which should remove errant templates.

It's always interesting to hear the outcome, so what did you do to fix it ?

The modules for httpd are installed in /usr/lib/httpd/modules/. What is your version of the webserver:
Code: [Select]
rpm -q httpdAlso check that you have (only) the advised repositories (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#Which_repositories_should_be_enabled) enabled. If you have see if your system is up-to-date.
