Title: Windows 2000 domain logon
Post by: William Ersing on April 10, 2002, 12:53:16 AM
I have e-smith 5.1.2 and i have windows 2000 clients. When i set the properties to logon thru domain i get a window where i have to enter a username and password. It then trys to verify it but it returnes the error that "The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials" what doses this mean and how do i get it to work?

William,

You could have drives mapped from your W2K box to SME already or you have a share open in a window somewhere (or even a printer connection).

You must remove all connections from the W2K box to the SME server first before attempting to join the domain. Open a command prompt on the W2K box and use the command :

NET USE * /DELETE

then try joining the domain. A search of the forums will bring up more details as this issue has been discussed often.

Even without upgrading Samba, the other instructions in this How-to

provide great info on what you need to do.  It's worth a look.
