Title: Dialup using AOL in the UK
Post by: Neil Jacklin on April 11, 2002, 12:56:07 PM
Does anyone have experience of an SME server using AOL dialup in the UK? Is it possible or am I wasting my time?

I already use SME and a BT dialup connection without any problems. But this is another proposed installation for a user on AOL dialup in the UK.

Well, not quite true, once you are on AOL, you can surf etc through the IP Stack using whatever browser, ftp etc you want.  However to get logged on to AOL, you do seem to need their software.

Thanks for the replies. Having researched this further I am now aware of the proprietary nature of AOL.
