Title: USB Backup Problems
Post by: Bricka on February 11, 2008, 09:01:19 AM
Hi, I have not logged this as a bug yet as I am not sure what the problem is.  I am backing up an SME 7.2 server with an external USB hard disk which works fine everytime but when I try and use a USB pen drive I get the error message back up returned non zero.

The log file looks like this:

console_backup:

Feb 10 16:45:58 gc1 console_backup: status from pv is 269

The size of the data backup is approximately 2.5GB and the pen drive is 4GB and it is completely blank - I thought that maybe the partion type may be incorrect, Any ideas ?

I am not familiar with the task you are performing, but I think the messages are self explanatories :
if the gzip compression is beeing run as a post backup task, it requires double size space : the uncompressed data and the compressed data, till the compression is completed.

Gzip is not run as a post backup task, it is done during creation of the backup. Gaston, please do not post about things you are admittedly unfamiliar with. Bricka has already been told exactly what he should do.

I have registered with bugzilla but cannopt work our how to actually enter the bug ??

Click on this link:

http://bugs.contribs.org/enter_bug.cgi

You will then see the different SME Server ?? names choose the one relevant to your bug report i.e SME Server 7.x then you will see you will have to select a few components and enter in full details and how to reproduce (if known) description once you have filled in as best as you can with as much description as possible.

Thanks
