Title: How do you monitor drive/array status for hardware raid?
Post by: dmacgregor963 on February 26, 2008, 04:22:58 AM
I am working with a Dell SC440 which has hardware raid.  To be more exact it has a SAS5/IR controller and  SERIAL ATTACHED SCSI drives.  Smeserver sees this as one hard drive of course.  i would like to monitor the raid status from the server.  Dell has a RedHat based array manager but the tech there didn't know if it will work with smeserver/CENTOS.  Can anyone tell if this or some other option is the best way to monitor such an arrray?

CentOS is Redhat, to some degree, it's ported from Redhat, so it should work. If the files are rpm file, then you just install them with "rpm -Uvh *.rpm"
