Title: Custom squid.conf, it is easy to do?

I need to add custom rules to the squid.conf of SME Server, just like a regular Linux box.
You know, access and time access rules.
But as far as I remember it is not so easy, as it is necessary to edit template files and expand them later.
I wonder if someone, has documented this process to make it easier.
