Title: Require to open ports for Battlefield 2142
Post by: roy on March 07, 2008, 06:34:05 AM
Hi All
I am relatively new to Linux so I hope you can help me down to my level.
Ea Games has suggested that I need to open ports on my server/firewall. No I am not running the game on my server but the firewall appears to be stopping me to play on other servers. I am running SME 7.3. What I have tried is to go to the Port forwarding and tried to add ports eg change the destination port eg to 27900 and the source port to 27900. I have left destination Host IP blank. It did not work.
So do I need to add a destination Host IP?
Which IP? 1) my internal IP of my server eg 192.168.1.10 or my gateway IP.
If not this please can you give me an idea

Many thanks Roy

The workstation IP that you are running the game on.

Hi But the workstation is running DHCP, so should I change all my PCs to static?

Static IP's are obviously desirable.
Read the manual very carefully and you will see you can force DHCP to allocate a specific IP address to your workstation(s), so you won't need to run around to each workstation to reconfigure them manually.
You can find the mac address in the log files.
See Hostnames and addresses panel section of manual.
