Title: Internet accessed iBays using AppleTalk over IP
Post by: tom on April 15, 2002, 10:20:11 PM
from the 5.X manual  ...

16.6. An i-bay Used as a Shared Network Drive

There is no mention that these network drives are accessable from the Internet. In fact on our network this seems to be the case. I can access shared iBays from our Intranet, but can't connect from the Internet.

Has anyone had any success connecting to SME from the Internet using AppleTalk?

Tom

Tom - I don't believe Appletalk is a routable protocol, but i'm no expert.
If so, however, then the answer would be no.

AppleTalk can't route, but AppleTalkIP can. Netatalk is able to communicate using AppleTalkIP, but I think this ability is crippled on the standard install of SME.
