Title: False mail notification
Post by: Tim Hogan on April 16, 2002, 01:02:41 AM
I am running a Mitel Server Version 5.12 (all blades updates have been installed) using Outlook Express with IMAP folders.  Periodically I receive a notice I have new mail but when I look there are no new messages.  What can be causing the false notification (or might I be dropping some new mail when it arrives)?

I had a customer (running 4.1.2) report the same issue to me. I later saw it myself while on site - new mail indicator on bottom of Outlook Express yet no new mail in mail folder.

I had/have this with SME-Server V5.1.2 - but only when using Outlook Express. If I use Eudora or the webmail client there is no problem.

My conclusion: Outlook Express is at fault.
My solution: Switch to another email client.

That was more or less my conclusion - Outlook Express is a fault.  My main concern is that it is not losing messages but only falsely reporting there are new messages when in fact there are none.
