Is there a reason why I can't create folders with periods in them in SME7?

I find it rather annoying, but if there's a reason for it, so be it - I do a lot of web work, and a lot of folders have names like "example.com".

Second, how do I go about getting access to the previously existing folders with periods in them?!  I've tried a few searches so far... it's probably something obvious.

Using Thunderbird mostly... maybe I'll try the web access....

Whoops, answered my own question.  Using the built-in horde webmail, I can rename folders.  Thunderbird needs a restart before it picks up on the renamed email folder names, though.

I still don't see why there is this new restriction...

Because the mail server daemon uses this as a seperator for folders, a folder test in your inbox will be located on the file system as .INBOX.test.

Huh.  I'm surprised that IMAP folders didn't have a more standard separator, plus some method of escaping it so that all normal characters are usable.

I find it really odd that a period wouldn't be allowed in a folder name.
