Title: Backup user directories to windows xp workstation
Post by: Drufazz on March 11, 2008, 07:52:26 AM
Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to backup just the users directories/files to a windows xp workstation.

I've found pscp that might do it, but is there a better way ?

Cheers,

You can configure a "backup job" just to do
/home/e-smith/files/users
and run it manually, or automatically every day, and retain old backup versions too, if required.

Thanks Ray,

What I really need to be able to do is open the files once they are transferred from the server to a workstation.

Basically I have students excel files saved in their directories on the server. I need to be able to transfer them to a windows workstation so i can open them in excel and check them.

And there is a lot of users and a lot of files, So i need something that can transfer them all across in one go :)

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

It's better if you say what you really want to do the first time you post.
