Title: USB ports on mobo headers not working.
Post by: ked on March 12, 2008, 02:09:04 AM
Hello all,

I'm following this up elsewhere but though I might ask here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

I have an SME 7.3 install on a system with an ASUS mobo (K8V-VM Green) which has been running for a year with no problems.

However I discovered the other day that the front USB ports on the case do not work. On further investigation I have discovered that all USB ports plugged into the USB headers on the mobo don't seem to be working at all.

The rear panel USB ports are fine.

The additional ports worked when XP was installed on the box, and the BIOS options to manage the USB ports are set to all 8 ports - headers (x 4) and  rear panel USB ports (x 4).

I'm now thinking it is a kernel issue with Linux on this particular southbridge (VIA VT8237A).

Anyone else seen this problem?
