Title: SME Server 7.3 doesnt recognize my NIC !!!
Post by: crazeann on March 17, 2008, 10:49:34 AM
My NIC is onboard Realtek 8168 dan sme server dont detect it.
Since i'm newbie to linux....
Can somebody help me..how to install the driver ??

Here is another question, do sme server automatically detect plug n play devices....?
lets say...i have bought 1 NIC in order to make it as Gateway. Do Sme server automatically install the driver..or i have to install it manually as above?

Thanks for the reply....

The quick answer: That NIC isn't supported by default by CentOS, or Redhat, so you'll need to install the drivers manually, which involves quite a lot of work which SME isn't capable of, without installing extra software.

The better way: Get a new NIC :)

Search for Realtek & D-Link on this forum, and you'll see some posts on it
