Title: Unsaved Changes Console
Post by: vegaslaptop on March 18, 2008, 01:58:31 AM
Hello everyone,

From what I have read so far seems like this is the SME "BSD". I rebooted my SME Server 7.2 and I had no internet or network access afterwards. So what I did is I logged as an admin in the console and used the configure feature by confirming the settings I already had. I rebooted and still nothing. I wanted to go back in the Configure option of the console but now every time I try that it just flickers and selects the previous option Check Status of the Server. Also it shows on the console screen "*Unsaved Changes*". I searched the forum and tried a few different options, "sme rescue", /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save, /sbin/e-smith/signal post-upgrade with /sbin/e-smith reboot but still nothing. The ""*Unsaved Changes*" are still there. I did an upgrade to 7.3 with my existing CD to 7.2 which I am not sure how it did when I have no network connection...

Also every single time my SME post gives me an error that it could not remove /var/run/dovecot/login because it's a directory. I do not remember having this error before. I am out of options but reinstalling. Please advise if there's a better way as I will have to redo quite a bit of work on the server if I need to reinstall SME.

Thank you for your time!
Marian

"sme rescue", /sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save, /sbin/e-smith/signal post-upgrade with /sbin/e-smith reboot but still nothing.

Where are you getting these commands?  They are either the wrong commands or incorrectly formatted.

Try logging on the console using "root" and from the command prompt type:

signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot

This is a known issue and is just log noise and can be ignored until it is fixed by the developers.

Pfloor,

Thanks for the fast response but that did nothing. It still has the same error. Any other ideas?

If after issuing the correct commands you still have the same issues then you need to report your problems to the bug tracker http://bugs.contribs.org

Please be very specific and state all the steps that you took and any error messages that you have encountered when posting your bug report.

Thanks.

I reported it but I think meanwhile I will just back everything up and reinstall as I need to be operational pretty quick. I will let you know if that fixes my problems.

My apologies. It's bug # 4078. I have meanwhile saved everything and reinstalled SME.
