Has anyone ever setup a program from dnsexit? (They provide DNS for Dynamic IP's ) Their web address is http://www.dnsexit.com and the program link is http://downloads.dnsexit.com/ipUpdate.tar.gz
If anyone could give some pointers on how to install this it would be much appreciated. :)
Thank :)

Why not use DynDNS (http://www.dyndns.org)
-
I always liked dnsexit :)
I'm getting this error when I run the script....
500 internal server error
Here is what the logs say...
[Wed Mar 19 14:38:45 2008] [error] [client 76.244.153.16] Premature end of script headers: ipUpdate.pl
-
it sounds like the file permissions on that script is incorrect. Did you follow the installation instructions from their website to the point?
-
Yes, I followed their instructions but no luck :(
I was looking at your DynDNS, but I'm not having much luck with it either :(
-
AFAIK, DynDNS is supported by SME by default.
I presume you're connecting via an ADSL modem, and your SME server is initiating the PPPoE connection?
-
I'm using a Linksys WRT54G router. :)

I did get DynDNS to work using the DDNS that is built in the Linksys router (I never knew it was there) But after looking at DynDNS prices, I think I would like to get DnsExit to work on SME... It's free :)
-
dude, DynDNS is also FREE, check their site out :)

DynDNS is not free for TLD's. It used to be but not anymore :-(
-
I GOT IT TO WORK!!!!!!!!!!! :)
There are two links on the DnsExit home page to download their Linux IpUpdate client... Choose the link called "More DNS Clients" and download "ipUpdate-1.6-2.noarch.rpm" (I originally downloaded "ipUpdate.tar.gz" and couldn't get it to work)
It took me about 5 minutes to install and setup (and I'm new to linux) Here is a direct link to the Update client I used. :)

aah, I didn't know jklapp want's TLD support.... dnsexit seems like a nice alternative then, pitty most routers doesn't support it though
