Title: locate and updatedb
Post by: Graham harris on April 18, 2002, 05:40:23 AM
Hi,

I've been using Debian for a year or so (still consider myself a newbie) and recently setup SME 5.1.2 as my server/gateway.

Something I particularly miss in SME is the ability to locate a file using 'locate'.

I've had a look around and found literally hundreds of slocate rpms but I don't know which one to choose.

Have I missed something and does SME have some other db for files?

Has anyone added locate to SME?

Thanks,

Graham

Actually, it comes on the CD; it just doesn't install by default.  Just install it from the SME 5.1.2 CD and you should be set.

Ah, :)  obviously in hindsight I should have checked but I really did think it would have been installed by default.

I must not assume!

Thanks for your help Dan.
