I'm installing SME Server 7.3 on an AMD 64 bit system, and would like to compile from source, since I only see the 386 version (32 bit, I assume), available on the website.
I've installed all sorts of apps from source, including very early Linux installs that required a bootloader on a floppy, but I'm a little confused how that would work for an entire OS ISO image containing an RPM.
Is there some sort of boot-loader that allows it to compile itself, or do I need a fully functioning development system to compile it on first, or is there something else I'm missing.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
Terry

Everybody here is running the 32 bit version on top of some virtualization software. Search for topics by "arne" as well as others.

Yes it is a 32bit x86 distribution. There is however no option to compile a 64 bit system (yet). It wont work to compile source to be 64 bit as changes will have to be made, your best bet on getting a SME Server 64 bit is to sponsor development as the devs are willing to work for that, but they need resources. Do a search in the forums as I remember a few threads on 64bit SME Server.

I guess that answers the question!
I'll run the 32 bit version for now.
Thanks,
