Title: Virtual ip address on SME server?
Post by: penguin_bb on April 07, 2008, 10:11:12 AM
Hello,

Is there a way to setup virtual ip address on sme 7.3? One NIC with 2 ip addresses? I would like to setup gateway and server mode on one NIC. Thanks!

That's a very insecure thing to be trying to do. The whole idea of a firewall is to have it be physically located between the outside network and the network which it is protecting. You obviously can't do that if the two networks are on the same physical wire.

yes.. there is no sme way in this case..

BTW, as Charlie said, this is not recommended..

I haven's read you would use this solution in S&G mode with only 1 ethernet..

10$ and buy another nic.
