Title: A uuencoded message attachment appears as garbled text in the body of a message
Post by: dikko on April 07, 2008, 04:17:11 PM
I received an pdf email what was encoded to text instead of pdf.
How can I fix this.
The sender uses an exchange server 2000.
When I send out a normal pdf problem is gone.

The following is a multipart MIME message which was extracted from a uu-encoded message.

We use outlook express and outlook

base64 uses non-US-ASCII characters what country did the email come from it is rather strange that it has x-unix-mode in it
could you post the SMTP headers from the email please

dikko ,

the X-TNEF2MIME-Plugin header indicates that the qpsmtp plugin tnef2mime converted the uuencoded message to MIME.
Is there anything suspicious in the qpsmtpd log? Search around the line with  "uuencoded attachment converted to MIME"

dikko,

if possible please  attach the raw message to your bug report.
Best way is to localize it in the Maildir directory and zip it to avoid modification during upload and downlaod.
