Title: deleted ROOT from mysql
Post by: brentonv on April 08, 2008, 04:28:11 AM
g'day folks. i have an SME server 7.2 (recently upgraded to 7.3) running remotely which a friend and i both use to host our email and web. my friend asked me to install phpyadmin and joomla for him and as a result he has accidently removed ROOT from users global, rather than from the joomla database. i have looked everywhere but i can't find advice on how to restore root to mysql. can someone please assist me with this dilemma. i have found how to reset the root password on wiki.contribs but i need to create root again first.

regards,
brentonv

brentonv,

I have added instructions to the Wiki.
see http://wiki.contribs.org/MySQL#Restoring_accidently_deleted_MySQL_root_user

Login with Putty and copy&paste the commands in one go.
