Title: 550 relaying denied
Post by: dragasoni on April 17, 2008, 11:54:56 PM
After removing the POP3S and IMAPS using the SME Server:Documentation:FAQ instructions, this is the error message I get when trying to send email through Outlook Express:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'dragasoni@hotmail.com'. Subject 'Test', Account: 'Dragasoni', Server: 'mail.dragasoni.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 relaying denied dragasoni@hotmail.com', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Any ideas?  I'm stumped...

Used to be that hotmail did not accept email from a dynamic IP address, so if you send through your ISP's MailServer you should be OK.

I hope this helps ..

You would see that when trying to send mail via mail.dragasoni.com when not located on the local network of mail.dragasoni.com, i.e from somewhere on the Internet.

I have it going through my ISP's mail server.  Thanks for your input though

To workaround that, enable ssmtp connections in server manager Email panel, and adjust settings in your email client accodingly. It's only for users with an account on sme server though.

If that's not your problem and answer, then you need to be more specific about what you did ie what exactly does this mean: "removing the POP3S and IMAPS using the SME Server:Documentation:FAQ instructions"

Switching it back to secure POP3S, SMTPS, and IMAPS resolved the issue.

Thanks!!!
