Good Morning,
I checked e-mail this morning and found a notification had come every 5min from SME7ADMIN saying that [ALRT] pifc-mercy.partnersinfamilycare.com : mail in = 16 (max=10) (the mail in number changes).
The mail logs do not agree with the above notice.
I also get the following displayed if I go to the graph pages:
Error at RRDs::graph(sessions.PNG) : Garbage ': ' after command: COMMENT:Max:
Number of opened tcp connections for ssh, ftp, vpn, afp and netbios protocols.
Error at RRDs::graph(dhcpsmb.PNG) : Garbage ': ' after command: COMMENT:Max:
Number of dhcp leases renewals and opened samba shares.
Error at RRDs::graph(mail.PNG) : Garbage ': ' after command: COMMENT:Max:
Number of incoming/outgoing e-mails and amount of spam/viruses filtered.
Error at RRDs::graph(latency.PNG) : Garbage ': ' after command: COMMENT:Max:
Average and maximal ping with the selected target.
Error at RRDs::graph(if_loc.PNG) : Garbage ': ' after command: COMMENT:Max:
Load on the local network interface.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Royce

The newer version of rrdtool does this to sme7admin, grab the original rrdtool from sme7admin's home and force yum to downgrade to that.
Yeah, and don't upgrade rrdtool again from smecontribs, there's a command around to exclude it from that repository. Sme7admin badly needs updating...

Yes, do something like this:
db setprop yum_repositories setprop smecontribs Exclude `db yum_repositories getprop smecontribs Exclude`,rrdtool
expand-template /etc/yum.conf
Sme7admin badly needs updating...
I agree, but you could also consider smeserver-sysmon, which works with the latest rrdtool, if you are after the graphs:
yum install smeserver-sysmon --enablerepos=smecontribs

Thanks Bunkobugsy and Cactus,
What would be the correct command to remove Sme7admin without stuffing up a bunch of things?
Sorry, the DOS command line that I learned on did not come close to the features that linux has.

Thanks Bunkobugsy and Cactus,

Sorry, the DOS command line that I learned on did not come close to the features that linux has.
Normal would be yum remove smeserver-sme7admin
But it might be that it removes to much or fails because of dependecy conflicts with other packages.
Most save would be rpm -e --nodeps smeserver-sme7admin
Above command will only remove smeserver-sme7admin and nothing else.

Cactus,
Thanks a million for your help.

PS> for anybody else reading this thread change:
yum install smeserver-sysmon --enablerepos=smecontribs
To:
yum install smeserver-sysmon --enablerepo=smecontribs

Err Hello.?
why is no one fixing sme7admin - I reported this some time ago and its not moving in the bugs.!?!?
See : http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3729
Seams clear to me that its not a big issue to fix (wellfor someone who knows) from what Ihave read and then all the rddtools work arounds would not be needed.?
Please canwe cast some common sense?
Thanks

We may be out of luck
Landry has not been active on the forums since February, 2006.
You may wish to write a new comparable contrib or replace with sysmon. Although sysmon does not do e-mail notifications.

to solve the problem just look better
that the autor released one update of the package
http://sme.firewall-services.com/downloads/sme7admin/rpms/smeserver-sme7admin-1.1.0-5.noarch.rpm
bye
-
Yes,
And I have had it running for several months now. :)
-
How did you workaround the 'missing dependency'?
Isn't the named item the wrong way around or something?
[root@josie 010-sme7admin]# rpm -Uvh smeserver-sme7admin-1.1.0-5.noarch.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
rrdtool-perl is needed by smeserver-sme7admin-1.1.0-5.noarch
[root@josie 010-sme7admin]#

I had the same problem. Let me see if I can find my notes.

Actually I did not have the same problem. My problem was worked throught in this thread. http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=41339.0
I would open a bug against SME7ADMIN.

Updated (follow the given instructions in the bug filed link).
It's been set up for yum'ing and I was doing it the old way.
I was confused with a similarly named file already existing;~/
