I just wondered, is contribs.org hosted on SME Server?  We should try to "eat our own dog food".

at it's simplest SME is a general use server for non technical admins

considering the resources available *.contribs.org is a high performance, highly tuned, state of the art, hosting platform running on multiple, often virtual, mostly Centos5 servers  8-)

That is because of hardware upgrades (see also: http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=41018.0) , which in the end will make it more administrable and in the end more stable.... at the moment there are some issues indeed, but the adminstrators are working on them as good as they can.
