Title: can SME act as an Inter-Vlan
Post by: kryptos on May 21, 2008, 05:17:59 AM
Hi All,

Is this possible we will make SME acting as inter-vlan for a our cisco switch? We have a cisco switch which is vlan capable but not inter-vlan capable. Instead of purchasing layer-3 switch i will use SME. Have everyone ever tried this?

Regards,
Rocel

I think you mean 'as an inter-vlan router'. No, SME server couldn't do that without significant customization. Yes, it can do it, if you know linux tech well enough.

What about an open-source router - http://www.vyatta.com/products/software.php
